JHL performed the design/build services for Crown Pointe Academy. Crown Pointe is a K-8 Charter School that outgrew their previous facility. The school purchased a new parcel to accommodate their needs for a newly constructed school that would fit their growth and programming requirements. The Core-Knowledge curriculum pointed the team towards a design concept that makes highly efficient use of instructional space and allows for small group areas within the corridors for individual learning. The shared spaces such as the LMC, Art, Music and Multipurpose Room are clustered together in the middle of the instructional wings. The chosen site has 180 degree views of the Front Range. The exterior roof forms of the school refer to the Front Range and create a rhythm as the school is approached along Federal Boulevard. The entry to the school is on the east side and a canopy element was created to provide a sense of arrival. The materials used on the exterior are a mix of masonry, and wood and metal panels.
ACE Silver Project of the Year
“This project presented many challenges. The schedule was short, the budget tight, and the challenge of building in Westminster unique. Your team met each challenge and exceeded our expectations each time. Your approach to design/build was refreshing and was executed to our total satisfaction.”
