Highline Academy

Highline Academy was formerly located in an office park in South Denver. They outgrew the facility and purchased an abandoned office building at Evans and Dahlia in Denver. The design-build team of JHL and HCM renovated approximately 32,000 SF of the existing building and added an 8,000 SF gymnasium and classroom addition. Green aspects of the project included: solatubes and new cut-in windows, high efficiency direct/indirect lighting fixtures, new high performance HVAC equipment, efficient plumbing fixtures, new roofing insulation, and added light colored rock to the ballasted roof to decrease heat gain. Although the project start was delayed over 60 days due to financing closing, JHL was still able to complete this project in time for school to begin in August.

“I would like to commend your firm for the unequaled performance in providing Design/Build services for the new Highline Academy building. As with all charter school projects, this project entailed a tight budget, a short schedule, and a difficult building site. Your firm performed effectively and delivered a high quality charter school building on-time, within budget, and with safe operations. Thank you for your excellent performance.”
