Meadow Creek Dam Rehabilitation
The rehabilitation effort completed the demolition and removal of the existing concrete spillway and involved the construction of a new concrete spillway within the existing footprint, including the control section, chute, and stilling basin. During construction, the team managed water flow through the implementation of a design-build coffer dam and significant bypass pumping systems.
Critical work on the outlet conduit included the installation of a cured-in-place liner and the replacement of the outlet and inlet concrete structures, gate, operator, and trash rack. Additionally, crews modified the embankment to control seepage with new embankment backfill and drainage systems. They also performed channel grading and placed riprap.
The remote, high-elevation location required substantial logistical planning, which included establishing an onsite mancamp with 25 housing units. JHL also utilized Virtual Design and Construction methods to enhance precision for complex concrete lift drawings. This project successfully showcased JHL’s capability to manage and execute high-stakes, extremely remote, and technically demanding infrastructure projects.
