Discovery Magnet School is being developed as a K-8 School located in the Willow Bend Subdivision in Thornton, CO. The building site for the school is located at 148th and Fairfax Dr. It will be a prototype design school based similar in nature to Reunion Elementary, Padilla Elementary, and Southlawn Elementary for 27J Schools. HCM Architects will be the architect of record for the District for the project. The school will be approximately 65,000 SF. The school will have some modifications to meet the PK-8 curriculum. The anticipated construction schedule will be from June 1, 2022 through July 1, 2023. The school will open for students in August of 2023.

Safety is our top priority! On all school projects, JHL utilizes Raptorware for all subcontractors on site, an access and tracking system that scans identification cards (drivers licenses, alien registration cards, green cards, and passports) and immediately conducts a background check with current information. Any person that is flagged by Raptorware will be refused entry to the site. Prior to subcontractor selection, companies are required to sign JHL’s project specific guidelines contract. A requirement of this includes drug testing and background checks for all employees who will be on campus.

Our innovative safety program begins with our safety committee and extends to each and every person who sets foot on a JHL jobsite. We realize that, especially in the construction industry, there has been a discrepancy between practice and policy with regard to on the job safety. Our approach to reconciling that discrepancy is to instill each of our employees with a personal devotion to safety and the dedication to ensure that each of our jobsites remains an accident-free environment. Our continued success in this endeavor is evidenced by our exceptional Experience Modification Rate of 0.65 and the fact that we recently received the Platinum level national Safety Training and Evaluation Process award from the Associated Builders and Contractors and are a Blue Level AGC CHASE Partner.
