JHL Constructors and DLR Group teamed for this new 14.9 acre campus for Arapahoe Community College in Castle Rock, Colorado. The project will be broken down into two different phases. Phase I includes the first 45,000 square foot building and associated parking. This phase will accommodate 700-800 full-time students and will provide spaces for applied sciences, arts, business, and technology programs. Space will also be provided for academic and business partners in the fields of business, entrepreneurship, information technology, and health. Local employers will provide hands-on equipment, real-life projects, and internships/apprenticeships to complement the academic programs. The new facility will embody and facilitate collaboration between all of the partners while providing a highly engaging and progressive learning environment for students. The first building will center around a two-story space that houses the Learning Commons, within which students can engage with each other, faculty and staff in an Academic Success Center, College-provided computer stations, open and enclosed study/huddle spaces, a bookstore, café, a help/welcome desk, and adjoining outdoor spaces. Surrounding this building hub will be all of the learning spaces including those for CSU’s use, administrative support and community based spaces including a Community Room, a Maker Space and leased space occupied by community business partners. Phase II will occur at a future date and encompass a second building of similar size with 300 additional parking stalls.
