Platte Valley PK-12 Campus

Platte Valley School District is located in northeastern Colorado in Sedgwick County approximately 40 miles east of Sterling, Colorado. The district consisted of a K-5 elementary school located in Sedgwick (Sedgwick Elementary School) and a 6-12 grade secondary school in Ovid (Revere Jr-Sr High School). Located in the South Platte River Valley, it is a highly agricultural area. The district’s facilities were constructed in 1907 and 1929 and were in great need of repair. The district received a BEST grant in 2012. JHL Constructors consolidated the two existing campuses to create a single PK-12 school at the Ovid site. Construction added a nine-classroom addition, a music room addition, a weight room addition, and an elevator and emergency stair exit. Renovations were completed throughout to restore the building to its original grandeur, and to provide functional spaces, a 21st century learning environment, and a safe and secure building. The project is LEED Gold certified and followed the Colorado Historical Society’s guidelines.

“The dedication and persistence demonstrated by JHL was evident from day one. Having never gone through a build or remodel project before, it was refreshing having JHL educate us in this unfamiliar territory. I feel confident that we made the best decisions for our district based on JHL’s extensive knowledge and experience. The historic renovation of our Temple Buell building was approached with admiration and respect for the architect’s vision. We think Mr. Buell would be pleased with the end product. We have a renovated, beautiful old building with twenty-first century technology for the next several generations. JHL did an outstanding, quality job.”
