Platte Valley School District Weld Re-7 2024 Bond Projects
The PVSD Weld Re-7 Middle School project involves the construction of a new 126,423 square-foot replacement middle school located adjacent to the existing middle school. Designed to meet the modern educational needs of the district, the new facility will feature state-of-the-art classrooms equipped with the latest technology to enhance student learning. A spacious and functional kitchen will support meal preparation, complemented by a welcoming cafeteria designed to foster a sense of community among students and staff. The gymnasium will provide ample space for physical education classes, sports activities, and school events. The scope also includes comprehensive site development, such as new parking areas, improved access routes, landscaping, and outdoor spaces to support recreational and educational activities. This new middle school will create a dynamic and innovative environment that supports the district’s commitment to educational excellence.
The Central Office project involves the construction of a new 9,916 square-foot replacement Central Administration Building, strategically located on the district’s existing campus. This modern facility is designed to centralize administrative operations and improve functionality for staff and community members alike. The building will feature thoughtfully designed office spaces that foster collaboration and productivity among district leadership and administrative teams. An advanced IT central workshop will serve as a hub for technology maintenance and support, ensuring smooth operations across the district. The versatile new community room will be much larger than the existing space and will accommodate the growing community with board meetings, staff training sessions, and other district and community events. This new facility reflects the district’s commitment to providing an efficient and supportive environment for its administrative functions, enhancing its ability to serve students, staff, and the broader community.

Upcoming Construction Timelines and Traffic Flow Information
We are beyond excited to begin construction on the new Platte Valley Middle School, new central office, and all of the associated site work. The projected finish date for the new middle school is Fall 2026 with all associated site work completed in Spring 2027. The construction process will begin before we know it because of the advanced design work Platte Valley took on beginning in June, 2024. This advanced work has helped us to be ahead of a large amount of construction that is slated to take place from the Denver Metro area north. Here is what we can share with you as of this time:
Construction Timeline
- The construction site will begin to be closed off and be set up on March 10th during the start of spring break. This includes the parking lot to the north of the middle school as well as the practice field to the east.
- Dirt work will begin shortly thereafter. The construction site is going to require a change to traffic flow, parking, and student drop-off/pick-up at the PK/Elementary and Middle School. This will go into effect upon returning from spring break on March 17th.
- A new expanded PK parking lot will begin to be constructed with an anticipated completion date of August 2025. The new PK parking lot will be able to accommodate approximately 30 vehicles.
- The new central office will be scheduled to be completed January 2026. This needs to be completed and operational prior to the new middle school opening due to rerouting fiber and internet connectivity for the school district and becoming the “hub” for the district.
- The new middle school and middle school parking and student drop-off/pick-up is scheduled to be open in the fall 2026. During the entirety of the construction process students and staff will continue to learn and work in the current middle school.
- After the move to the new middle school is completed, the current middle school will come down to create new field space and a new expanded elementary parking and student drop-off/pick-up area. These spaces will not be completed until winter 2026/spring 2027.
Parking and Traffic Flow Information
- The parking lot to the north of the middle school as well as the practice field to the east will be fenced off for construction. This begins during spring break.
- All families will now arrive to the PK/elementary and middle school from the east to the west. Clark Street will become a one-way street east-to-west from 9th Street to 5th Street during the entirety of the construction. This will include drop-off lanes on the curb sides of the street and a drive lane in the middle.
- Bus drop-off lane will reverse direction and now enter from Clark Street and exit onto Hill Street.
- School entrances and exits from the middle school and elementary schools will remain unchanged for students taking the bus. However, a protective barrier will be in place at the walkways between the middle school and construction areas.
- Curbside parent drop-off areas will be relocated from the north to the curbside along Clark Street.
- Students will enter either the elementary or middle school via the entrances identified on the attached map.
- PreK pickup and drop off will still be able to utilize the seven parking spaces at the PreK Entrance. Overflow PreK parking will be expanded to the gravel lot at the North side of the elementary school.
- Teacher parking will be relocated as follows:
- Elementary school teacher parking will be in the spaces along 5th Street.
- Middle school teacher parking will be in the stadium parking lot along 9th Street.
