August 2023 – Celebrates Milestones on Three K-12 Projects
Englewood, CO – Last week, JHL Constructors (JHL) proudly celebrated the successful completion of three remarkable school projects, each met with resounding enthusiasm from their respective communities.
“We are filled with immense pride and gratitude for the dedicated teams behind these accomplishments,” said Jeff Johnson of JHL Constructors. “Each project was a shining example of true teamwork, where every member exhibited an outstanding commitment to the students and a deep passion for delivering top-notch learning environments to each district.”
Douglas County School District (DCSD) marked the grand opening of two educational institutions, Legacy Campus and Venture Academy of Leadership & Entrepreneurship (VALE). Both facilities, designed by Cuningham, reaffirm the District’s commitment to providing cutting-edge facilities for students and faculty.
The celebrations commenced on August 2, with the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Legacy Campus, where the once Wild Life Experience was transformed into a dynamic hub accommodating multiple disciplines for the District. The renovation includes state-of-the-art CTE suites, professional development spaces, spacious classrooms, culinary arts facilities, a Great Hall, modern administrative offices, a CU Nursing School, and dedicated classrooms for Arapahoe Community College.
VALE’s ceremony was shortly after on August 3 where attendees witnessed the remarkable transformation of an existing building into an advanced alternative high school program. The project not only encompassed architectural enhancements and finish improvements but also required extensive upgrades to fire suppression systems, mechanical systems, electrical, and building controls.
Concluding the series of celebrations, 27J Schools Discovery Magnet opened its doors to welcome students during a combined grand opening ceremony and Back to School Night. Spanning 68,014 SF, this prototype school, designed by Hord Coplan Macht, offers shared workspaces, common school amenities, art and music rooms, and a well-equipped gymnasium. The school also features multiple playgrounds and a synthetic turf field, providing students with ample space for learning and play.
“We take great pride in our involvement in these transformative projects as they allow us to create modern and innovative spaces that will not only nurture the minds of today’s students but also shape the future for the next generation. Our dedication to this endeavor is at the heart of our motto – Building Colorado’s Future,” Johnson added.
