September 2022 – Groundbreaking, Highlands PK-8

Aurora, CO – The Aurora Highlands and JHL Constructors celebrated the groundbreaking of the first of four schools planned for the Aurora master-planned community on September 8. JHL is serving as the Construction Manager / General Contractor for the first neighborhood school project.

The event welcomed community, staff, parents, and potential students who will benefit from the new PK-8 facility.

“This school is going to be an amazing addition to the community,” said JHL Senior Project Manager James Torres. “I’m an Aurora resident and have two boys of my own, so I know how important quality schools are to a family. I’m confident that our team will deliver an exceptional facility to the community as we continue Building Colorado’s Future.”

The Aurora Public Schools’ project is expected to be completed in time for the 2023-2024 school year and is a prototype for the developing neighborhood. It will span two stories and 105,000 SF serving students from preschool through eighth grades. The project was designed by Hord Coplan Macht and RB+B Architects.
