April 2022 – Grand Opening, Caraway
Denver, CO – JHL and Van Tilburg, Banvard & Soderbergh (VTBS) joined Maiker Housing Partners and Adams County Commissioners on April 21, 2022, to mark the grand opening of their newest affordable housing community – Caraway.
Located at 7401 Broadway, this five-acre site was formerly home to the Adams County Child and Family Services Center. The adaptive reuse includes 121,100 SF of mixed-income, affordable housing. The existing 46,000 SF office building was converted into 44 apartment units with an additional 72 new walk-up units. Of the 116 units, 12 apartments are reserved for youth transitioning out of the foster care system offering them a pathway to success.
Onsite for the festivities were residents and community members alike. One resident talked about the project and what it means for her as a recent individual transitioning out of the foster system. Together these residents offered specific testimony of why projects such as Caraway are essential in our communities.
Designed by VTBS, the redevelopment includes a fitness center, computer station, lounge room, rooftop patio, playground, raised bed garden, a dog park, a BBQ and picnic area.
