Description

Global Village Academy is a K-8 charter school authorized by Aurora Public Schools (APS). The school emphasizes an international curriculum and combines immersion education in three world languages (Chinese, Spanish, and French) with a rigorous program of study in English. With a growing enrollment, they made the decision to expand their school in 2009. The new 32,000 square foot expansion serves 3rd -8th grades and includes 20 classrooms, an art room, cafeteria/multi-purpose room, a music room/stage, and administrative space. Green aspects of the project included: low voc materials, solatubes, overhead doors to provide fresh air and daylight, high efficiency lighting fixtures, high performance mechanical systems, and low flow plumbing fixtures. This project was delayed 98 days due to financing and entitlement issues. An accelerated schedule was utilized and school opened as planned.

Testimonials

This project presented every conceivable challenge, including a late start, a tight budget, and an unexpected mid-project challenge created by a design error. You and your staff rose to the occasion by accelerating the work and absorbing the design issue, finishing some two weeks ahead of schedule, and well within our budget goals. It is with great pleasure that I send this recommendation letter. Thank you for your outstanding performance.
